As a fully integrated quarry-to-customer producer, Dangote Cement has an impressive production capacity of up to 43.3 million tonnes per annum (Mta) across Africa. Dangote Cement Cameroun S.A., opened its doors in March 2015. The cement clinker plant located on the southern shore of the Wouri River, Douala is the first new entrant in Cameroon’s cement market in 40 years.
With a production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year, the new cement manufacturing facility is a reflection of the significant commercial growth occurring in Douala.
Commenting on the opening of the new cement plant in Douala, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote explained his vision: “We are motivated to create an African success story because we believe that entrepreneurship, especially our own home-grown entrepreneurship, holds the key to the future economic growth of the continent.
When Dangote Cement converted their operations from heavy fuel oil to natural gas, GDC was privileged to play a role in the company’s vision. By guaranteeing a consistent supply of energy without the need for storage or transportation, GDC’s mission of unlocking Cameroon’s economic potential through gas, is effectively being realized.
