Road Grading

Beginning of July

Grading of road to permit access for directional drilling machine and piping equipment to Southern side of the site.

Pipeline Jointing

Pipeline Jointing

15 July

The first pipeline jointing operation of the HDPE commenced off site in a location approximately 200 metres north of the well heads on route to the first gas customers located at the Magzi estate. This occasion was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Technology

With the butt fusion jointing machine, the joints are first cut and smoothed free of all dirt on the surface and are then welded together.

Horizontal Directional Drilling

17 July

A horizontal directional drilling (HDD) machine, ‘Ditch Witch’ was mobilised to the same location and the first 100 metres of directional drilling beneath a stream was completed. This operation is also being supervised by horizontal drilling experts from the UK as part of the technology transfer to Cameroon personnel.

The HDD machine is employed in areas such as under streams, roads or railways where trenching is more complex.

Pipe Laying

Late July

12 sections of 400mm pipe fully welded and tested await pulling underground with the Ditch Witch behind a 600mm diameter reamer. In total, over 140m of pipe now ready for installation.

Preparing Foundations for Processing Facility

All July

Meanwhile back on site, setting out for first layer works ahead of constructing foundations for the process facilities.
